Tomorrow is the Cold Steel Parking Lot Sale. I'm thinking that because they just finished filming their new Proof DVD that they will have some extra special goodies that may have just been used to cut some meat, or something silly like that. I'll post back with what I pick up ASAP.Cold Steel Parking Lot Sale!

Yeah, there should be some nice items to get.
Still don't understand why they don't want to do a pls in Holland.

I'm pretty curious if there are some of the items I was interested in...
Re: Cold Steel Parking Lot Sale!
Just got back. Very cool time indeed. Lots of people. TONS of great deals. Spoke to LCT for a bit about Scandinavian knives. He seemed interested in my idea for a Leuku. Said he would put it in his "gee whiz" folder. He actually comes off as nicer and cooler than I think he does in his DVD's. He is certainly excited about ALL of his companies knives. I only picked up a few machetes. They had quite a few Kopis machetes for dirt cheap. I was stunned. I finally got my Voyager. I went with a Large Tanto 50/50 serration. Also got my Rifleman's Hawk. A friend of mine picked up a new Hatamoto (sp?) folder for $200. A woman there snagged a stag handled Trail Master for $50. I think it was a second, or shop-worn, but it looked mint. I was so jealous. I followed her around for a little bit to see if she would put it back. She didn't. They had lots of other TM's for about $100. LOTS of swords. I didn't price many of them since they are not really my thing, but they were going for cheap indeed. All in all, my advice is that if it is at all possible for you to make it out to the next sale DO IT! The deals are incredible. It was also nice to handle some blades that I previously didn't have the chance to, but had been looking to buy sight unseen. The AK-47 is certainly NOT for me, and the Gunsite is just way too big. I'm already kicking myself for passing up on some blades, but that just gives me reason to go to next years sale.

Sounds great! Too bad it's so far for me to come personally
You were lucky to find the Kopis machete, I didn't even ask for one because I had no idea they can be still found...never mind, I'll just keep the zombies off with a shovel...

KOPIS!
I WISH I HAD EVEN THOUGHT THEY EVEN MIGHT HAVE THEM THERE...
oh well.
I will never be making it out there unfortunately as travel is a thing of the past for me.
I simply can not make it that far in a car, don't know anyone with a motor home who is going and willing to take me. I can not fly. The train is so expensive, heck it is more expensive than an airplane. The bus is the bus, not happenin'

Re: Cold Steel Parking Lot Sale!
You will find that some unscrupulous jerk is selling one for an incredibly high starting price on eBay. He must be new to the eBay game and is pushing the limits of what any sane person will pay for such a rare find.

Re: Cold Steel Parking Lot Sale!
Just a question - I want to make my own designed Kopis - more a sword than machete. I wanted to forge the blade individually, but since I see so many people who want this blade, I have this idea: a friend of mine could be able to get us some blade blanks laser-cut from a steel sheet. This would only pay if we ask for several blades, not just 2-3. I have no idea about the price yet, but I wouldn't ask him unless I see some people even interested.
Re: Cold Steel Parking Lot Sale!
Depending on the price, I might be interested. Do you know what kind of steel? Would they be heat treated or ground at all?

My issue is the postage Knecht, you are in the Czech Republic buddy and steel is heavy stuff.
Having now send a LOT of packages from here to "over there" now, I have found that unless we can find a number of things to put into a package along with this blade and this for each of us individually, the postage may well double the price or more for anything you could make us.

Re: Cold Steel Parking Lot Sale!
But the idea does get the juices flowing. I order some heavy blades from India, and it's not all that expensive to have them shipped so long as you don't need it in a rush - now, that's expensive. Sounds like you had a stellar time at the sale. RC
Re: Cold Steel Parking Lot Sale!
I have no specific information right now, it was just an idea. If we get the blades cut out, I think I can arrange grinding and heat treatment as well. The postage could be a problem, yes. How about this - I would send all the blades to one of you and then, that one would re-send it to others? If you split the international postage among 3-4 people and each one then paid just the regular postage again, it wouldn't be too expensive IMO.
I think I could also make the whole sword+sheath and sell it ready to go, but I suppose you guys are more interested in building it by yourself, right?
